Before the beginning of the 16th Bled Strategic Forum (BSF), President of the Republic of Slovenia Borut Pahor had a bilateral meeting with the Prime Minister of the Hellenic Republic, Kyriakos Mitsotakis.

By way of introduction, President Pahor and Prime Minister Mitsotakis shared the experiences of the two countries in tackling COVID-19. They agreed that every effort must be made to ensure that schools and the economy do not close again. That is why Greece has adopted a decision on mandatory vaccination for health professionals. President Pahor was interested to know how this decision was received by the public, and Prime Minister Mitsotakis said that there was strong support for it.

They also touched on current international issues, particularly issues relating to the situation in Afghanistan. They called for a common and coordinated response from the European Union regarding asylum seekers and refugees.

President Pahor and Prime Minister Mitsotakis also exchanged views on current developments in the Western Balkans, advocating stronger EU engagement with an emphasis on opening the chapters with North Macedonia and Albania.
