On the margins of the forum in Antalya, the President of the Republic of Slovenia, Borut Pahor, met with the members of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Šefik Džaferović and Milorad Dodik, who are attending the forum.
They discussed the current situation in Bosnia and Herzegovina and the impact of the war in Ukraine on the situation in the region. President Pahor said that while he and the presidents of some other Member States supported Ukraine’s early EU membership, he reminded his European counterparts that the same should apply to the countries of the Western Balkans region. Furthermore, as co-leader of the Brdo–Brijoni process, he also noted that the EU must not lose sight of the European perspective of the region and of Bosnia and Herzegovina in particular. He pointed out that, given the current state of play, EU enlargement is now more than ever the most important geopolitical and strategic issue.
