President Pahor Concludes Official Visit to Turkmenistan

The President of the Republic of Slovenia Borut Pahor is today concluding the official visit to Turkmenistan where he has been hosted by the President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedow. The President is accompanied by the Minister of Economy Metod Dragonja, a delegation of businessmen, and representatives of the Slovenian Chamber of Commerce. During the visit, the President will also stop in the city of Türkmenbaşy.

The first official visit of the President of the Republic of Slovenia Borut Pahor aims to establish bonds of friendship and intensify political and economic relations between the two countries, especially to find opportunities to increase economic cooperation in the areas of telecommunications, high technology, pharmaceuticals, transport and tourism.
Accompanied by the Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan, the Foreign Minister Raşit Meredow, the President today toured the international port of Türkmenbaşy and visited an oil-refinery factory complex. The managing director and the chief technology officer described the operation of the facility to the President and showed him around a polypropylene production hall, and an engine oil laboratory and production hall.
In Türkmenbaşy, on the coast of the Caspian Sea, the hosts also showed the President the new tourist resort Awaz which is expected to become the most important tourist centre of the Caspian Sea in the following years.
