President Pahor and Moldovan President Sandu discuss the current situation in Ukraine

Today, 28 February 2022, the President of the Republic of Slovenia, Borut Pahor, had a telephone conversation with the President of the Republic of Moldova, Maia Sandu.
President Pahor and President Sandu exchanged their views on the current situation in Ukraine and condemned Russia’s aggression. President Sandu informed President Pahor in more detail of the situation in her country, which is facing uncertainties regarding energy supplies and, in particular, a difficult humanitarian situation, as many Ukrainian refugees are seeking refuge in this neighbouring country. She said that Moldova would ask the European Union for help.
President Pahor expressed his full support for President Sandu’s efforts to help Ukrainian refugees. He thanked her for their humanity and courage in circumstances that are not easy for Moldova. In his words, Slovenia will look at ways to help Moldova – Slovenia also supports Moldova’s European perspective.
President Pahor and President Sandu welcomed today’s talks on the Belarusian border and expressed the hope that the conflict could be resolved peacefully and that diplomacy could regain its strength.
