President Pahor and Polish President Duda discuss the current situation in Ukraine

Today, 28 February 2022, the President of the Republic of Slovenia, Borut Pahor, had a telephone conversation with the President of the Republic of Poland, Andrzej Duda.

The two presidents exchanged their views on the current situation in Ukraine. They expressed their deep concern at this flagrant violation of international order by the Russian political leadership and called for an end to the Russian attack. They underlined the importance of a united and strong response from the European Union.

President Pahor welcomed today’s talks between the two sides on the Belarusian border and expressed the hope that, step by step, the conflict could be resolved peacefully and that diplomacy could regain its strength.

President Duda presented an initiative for Ukraine’s European perspective, which was welcomed by President Pahor. In this regard, he noted again that the EU enlargement process should also be accelerated for the Western Balkan countries.
