President Pahor attends UN Meeting on Ebola

New York, 25. 9. 2014 | press release

This morning (local time), the President of the Republic of Slovenia, Borut Pahor, attended the meeting of Heads of State and Government on the response of the international community to the Ebola outbreak in West Africa. The meeting was convened on the initiative of the United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon. Along with the presidents of the West African countries that are most threatened by the Ebola virus, the meeting was also addressed by US President Barack Obama.

President Obama called on the international community to participate in remedying the consequences of the outbreak of this deadly virus and encouraged the participating countries to submit their concrete proposals for solutions as, he stated, time is running out. If the efforts to contain the virus fail, the consequences of the outbreak could become unmanageable.
