President Pahor was greeted by Mayor Sofoklis Sofokleous and together they visited the folk art and ethnographic museum, which is situated in a restored house and whose collection includes the furniture and items of a wealthy family, as well as examples of local costumes and the famous Lefkara lace, which is inscribed on the UNESCO Representative List of Intangible Cultural Heritage.

Yesterday afternoon, President Pahor visited Limassol, where he was received by the Mayor of Limassol, Nicos Nicolaides. He then visited the Cyprus University of Technology, which this year celebrates ten years of cooperation with Slovenia. President Pahor discussed peace and security in Europe with university students. He listened with interest to their views on the war in Europe, which is currently facing the biggest humanitarian crisis since the Second World War.

"It is our duty, the duty of politicians, to find a solution as soon as possible that will stop the suffering of the people and give diplomacy a chance to do its job," said President Pahor in the discussion, adding that war was not a natural disaster and that it was up to us human beings whether to resolve our conflicts through dialogue or through war.

The University houses the UNESCO Chair on Digital Cultural Heritage, where they develop ways to manage cultural heritage using modern digital applications.

Accompanied by the Shipping Deputy Minister of the Republic of Cyprus, Vassilios Demetriades, President Pahor visited the old port of Limassol.

The first day of the official visit closed with a gala dinner in honour of President Pahor hosted by President Anastasiades.

President Pahor continues his trip to Antalya, Turkey, where he will attend the Antalya Diplomacy Forum on Friday, 11 March 2022, at the invitation of the President of the Republic of Turkey, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. At an international conference in Antalya, President Pahor will take part in a debate with NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky (via video link) and President of Niger Mohamed Bazoum.
