President Pahor in telephone conversation with Polish President Duda

Ljubljana, 16. 4. 2021 | press release

Today, President of the Republic of Slovenia Borut Pahor had a telephone conversation with President of the Republic of Poland Andrzej Duda.

The conversation, which was part of the regular dialogue between the presidents of the two friendly countries, was initiated by President Duda, who wished to inform President Pahor of his wish to speak at the virtual Leaders Summit on Climate to be hosted by US President Biden next week also on behalf of some other Central European Countries.

President Pahor answered that this was certainly reasonable, as a little over two years ago President Duda hosted the COP24 Leaders’ Summit in Katowice, which President Pahor also attended. President Pahor informed President Duda of his views and his advocacy of more effective measures to address climate change and of the activities he carries out within the Standing Advisory Committee on Climate Policy, which he established for that purpose one and a half years ago. President Pahor would like to see the largest possible share of funds from the recovery fund and other sources to be allocated to green transition.

President Pahor and President Duda also discussed the fight against the COVID-19 epidemic, and Mr Duda assessed that Poland has possibly passed the peak of the third wave and that the situation is stabilising.

At the end of their conversation, President Duda invited President Pahor to pay an official visit to Poland as soon as possible after the epidemic.
