Cordial meeting between President Pahor and President Mattarella
Rome, 8. 2. 2022 | press release
The President of the Italian Republic, Sergio Mattarella, received the President of the Republic of Slovenia, Borut Pahor, at a dinner last night in the private part of the Quirinal Palace in Rome. The meeting was held in a cordial atmosphere. Before President Pahor's official visit to the Vatican, it was initially agreed that the two Presidents would meet privately, after the end of President Mattarella's term of office. But when President Mattarella was re-elected, he decided to invite President Pahor to a talk and dinner at the Quirinal Palace.
The two Presidents exchanged views on all topical bilateral issues, particularly the issue of peace and security in the European Union’s northern and eastern neighbourhood. They also discussed the need to actively coordinate policies for economic recovery after the pandemic and to engage in a more ambitious debate on the common European future.
