Ljubljana, 10. 4. 2015 | press release
The President of the Republic of Slovenia, Mr Borut Pahor, today received Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kosovo, Mr Hashim Thaçi, who is on a working visit to Slovenia. The talks held in a friendly atmosphere first focused on bilateral cooperation and the issue of Kosovo moving closer to the European Union. They agreed that relations between Slovenia and Kosovo are very good and that there are no outstanding issues. Bilateral cooperation is most intensive in economic matters, as Slovenia is the third biggest foreign investor in Kosovo and one of its major economic partners. Deputy Prime Minister Thaçi expressed his satisfaction over this, emphasising that Slovenian investors are welcome in Kosovo and that there is, however, a lot of untapped potential for bilateral cooperation. In his words, the signing of the Stabilisation and Association Agreement with the European Union will give fresh impetus to economic cooperation.
President Pahor assured Mr Thaçi that Slovenia supports Kosovo’s aspirations for joining multilateral organisations, especially the European Union.
In the talks, they devoted special attention to topical issues and challenges in the Western Balkans.
