President Borut Pahor Receives United States Senator of Slovenian Origin Thomas Harkin

The President of the Republic of Slovenia Borut Pahor today received Thomas Harkin, US Senator of Slovenian origin from the state of Iowa. President Pahor and Senator Harkin discussed the relations between Slovenia and the United States of America, and the President thanked the Senator for many years of friendship and support to Slovenia.
Senator Harkin was also interested in Slovenian internal political situation and procedures regarding the call for an early elections.

President Pahor and Senator Harkin also exchanged views on some of the current European and international issues, particularly on the Western Balkans and the situation in Ukraine. They also discussed assistance to Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Croatia which were affected by catastrophic floods.
