RECOMMENDATION NO. 15
ahead of the United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP27)

We are Running Out of Time.

Quality climate education is critical if we are to equip people of all ages and in all places with the knowledge and skills necessary to build a future in which all can thrive.

Young people need to be recognised as leaders, placed at the forefront of the conversation about climate change

and empowered through education.

We are calling on the world's leaders to provide us with the skills and training to build a sustainable world.
Our world is warming and to keep the increase to 1.5 degrees we need forward thinking, consistent policies

and funding to help us reach Net Zero Emissions.

We are committed to help build a future that is inclusive and sustainable for all.

Show by your actions, not just words, that you are too.

Help us get there!

Message from young people ahead of the United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP27)

Ahead of the United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP27), which will be attended on behalf of Slovenia by the President of the Republic Borut Pahor, the Standing Committee for Climate Policy of the President of the Republic of Slovenia adopted Recommendation No. 15, in which it

    · expresses sincere support to young people from all over the world who have initiated the Running Out of Time call that is being transferred from Glasgow to Sharm El Sheikh, where COP27 will take place, through 18 countries and 7,767 kilometres in the form of a non-stop relay to urge all people and world leaders to hear them out;
      · assesses that the young people's message is an important warning to all people and decision-makers that, due to the war in Ukraine, efforts to achieve commitments from the Paris Climate Accords and the European Green Deal, and the discussion on the climate future, have been removed from the top of European and global political priorities, and
        · points to the necessity of further action at the global, national, local and personal levels to limit global warming to 1.5 degrees Celsius, as we are not yet aware of all the catastrophic consequences of the war for the environment and climate, and we do not think about them enough;
      hence

        · it calls on the National Assembly, the Government of the Republic of Slovenia, all decision-makers and all people to support the young people's message, join their efforts and do everything in their power so that the efforts for a peaceful and fair solution to the war in Ukraine does not push aside the urgent measures for achieving the commitments from the Paris Climate Accords and the European Green Deal and diminish the importance of responsible and sustainable conduct which, in addition to ensuring peace and security, is an indispensable part of our present and future.
