Presidents Pahor and Jóhannesson set up a bench by Lake Bohinj to honour the friendship between Slovenia and Iceland

Bohinj, 28. 8. 2022 | press release

On Sunday, 28 August, and Monday, 29 August 2022, President of Iceland Guðni Thorlacius Jóhannesson is on an official visit to Slovenia with his wife, Eliza Reid, at the invitation of his Slovenian counterpart Borut Pahor.

As part of the visit, Pahor and Jóhannesson set up a friendship bench by Lake Bohinj to mark the genuine friendship between the two countries. This is the 26th bench set up in honour of an official visit by a president of a foreign country hosted by the President of the Republic of Slovenia. Friendship benches serve as a lasting memory of meetings with state dignitaries who have visited Slovenia and thus contributed to the strengthening of bilateral relations between the states.

President Pahor at the official visit by President of Iceland Jóhannesson: “For countries as small as Slovenia and Iceland, multilateralism is extremely important.”
