President Pahor meets with UN Secretary-General António Guterres via video call

The President of the Republic of Slovenia Borut Pahor talked with UN Secretary-General António Guterres today via video call.
In the introduction, President Pahor expressed regret that this year’s annual session of the General Assembly would not be taking place live. Secretary-General Guterres agreed that while all events are held virtually, personal contact between statesemen is missing.
President Pahor and Secretary-General Guterres then discussed the current political problems in Nagorno-Karabakh. President Pahor gave his full support to the efforts of the Secretary-General in reducing tensions and ensuring the peaceful resolution of conflicts. They also discussed the situation in the Western Balkans and President Pahor reiterated his invitation to Secretary-General Guterres to one of the future meetings of the Brdo-Brijuni Process.
President Pahor and Secretary-General Guterres also discussed other current global issues, namely the fight against climate change and the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic, the related health aspects and economic consequences.
President Pahor confirmed the full commitment of Slovenia to multilaterism and readiness to continue its close cooperation with the UN.
