The Slovenian president met with representatives of the Slovenian national minority in the Republic of Austria

The President of the Republic of Slovenia Borut Pahor met today with representatives of the Slovenian national minority in the Republic of Austria.
This was the second meeting of President Pahor in this extended format, which is welcomed by the representatives of the national minority who wish to continue with consultations in this format also after 10 October.
The purpose of the meeting was review and coordinate views on the situation of the Slovenian minority, its coexistence with the national majority and the relations between the neighbouring countries for one last time before the main event marking the 100th anniversary of the Carinthian plebiscite. President Pahor estimated that the prevailing sentiment was that we must give 10 October a chance and contribute to the culture of remembering the past 100 years in a way that enables us to built a common future more seamlessly.
In the framework of preparations for marking the Carinthian plebiscite centenary, President Pahor meets regularly and often with representatives of the Slovenian national community in Austrian Carinthia. Their last meeting took place in Klagenfurt on 23 July 2020 where the President presented the topics discussed with the Austrian President Van der Bellen and the agreements concerning the agenda of the main event marking the 100th anniversary of the plebiscite. The participants at the meeting shared their expectations and views with President Pahor. President Pahor then met with the Carinthian provincial governor, Dr Peter Kaiser.
