On the margins of the meeting of thirteen presidents of EU Member States in Athens, the President of the Republic of Slovenia, Borut Pahor, met with the President of the Italian Republic, Sergio Mattarella. Their discussion affirmed the excellent relations between the two statesmen and countries.

The Slovenian and the Italian presidents agreed to attend next year's ceremony commemorating the 100th anniversary of the burning down of Trieste National Hall together, thus confirming the sincere friendship between the two countries and nations.

Today, Slovenia and Italy are connected by the European idea founded on reconciliation and symbiosis. President Pahor and President Mattarella vowed to highlight this with their attendance of the ceremony in Trieste.
